A Long and Loving Life

Aunt Lola, what can I say. She was, kind and sweet, but no pushover. A loving and smart woman. She lived 98 years and then left us this past Thursday morning to go live with the Lord. Lots of her family are there already, so I know it will be a great reunion. Her daughter Betty Joe hasn't long been gone from us, and sister Polly, just a year, and 2 months ago. So there are as many up there as we are here below. We will miss her greatly until our time to join her. I know she will be waiting with a big smile, and a loving hug.

Teaching Eddie to hem

Eddie was at home all day today, so he wanted to get some things done around the house. he had been asking me for quite a while to hem a few pair of his pants. Today, he said "I will do it myself if you will just teach me how" So I did. I got him started, while I worked on another pair. I have to say he did very well. Now he can do his own! kidding, I will always help him when I can.

Lola Edge (aunt Lola)

Today after church and lunch we went up to my cousin Darren's to visit with the family, and mostly to see Aunt Lola. She is 98, and quite a lady. We would love to keep her here with us forever, but none of us will be here forever. She has cancer, and a heart condition, so we don't know how long she will hold on. pictured above is Aunt Lola on the left, and her sister Pauline Blanton. We lost Aunt Polly about a year ago Dec. 06. She was a lovely lady also. We miss you Aunt Polly.

A little about Aunt Lola:

Born in 1909. Was married 42 years to Loyd Edge until his death in 1969. She is the mother of 3 girls, Betty, Kathy, and Shirley. Even though she has many fond memories of the past, she lives in the present, in the "today", and enjoys life today. She is a 21st Century lady. Unable to travel as much as she would like, she enjoys reading, especially about history and travel. Her favorite magazine is the National Geographic.

She still likes domestic life and likes to sew and do light housekeeping. Wanting to be as independent as she can be and do things for herself, she makes up her bed and dusts, and keeps her room at Skylyn neat and clean. This was up until recently when she had to move in with her grandson and his wife Lisa because of her declining health.

She likes her role as "Mother", and" Grandmother" to five grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. We all love her very much. HANG IN THERE LOLA!

Mia's sleep over

Friday we went after Mia, and she spent the rest of the day and night with Grandma and Grandpa. We had fun making cookies in the shape of bells, angels, and churches. She wanted to go to Wendy's on the way to my house to get a bacon cheese burger, and a shake. it's a good thing we did, because once we got in the grocery store with Eddie we stayed awhile. No time to cook! She was up pretty late, but slept good after that. She and Eddie enjoyed raiding the pantry most of the time, and of course she got some chewing gum. Well all to soon she had to go home when her mother came to get her the next day. We always enjoy the grandkid's visits.

Yes we voted.

Today was a sorry day (weather wise) for voters, but we all went out in the freezing rain to cast our vote. I was one of the undecided, and am still not sure I voted for the right man. We can only hope, but more than that, we can pray for the good of our country.

Snow in South Carolina!

So snow isn't such a big deal to some, but South Carolina only sees it now and then, and almost never very deep. We got at least one inch Wednesday night. It was very pretty, but also very cold and wet. I took a few pictures, because way to soon it will all be gone.
